Season of Lent Almsgiving Opportunities
During this holy season of Lent, we have many ways to give to others in our community.
Quilt Raffle
Our friends at Our Lady of Grace are raffling a handmade quilt to benefit a young parish family in need who is expecting twins soon. Tickets are $2 each or 6 for $10. See Kelli Wittman at Mass or at the Parish Office to purchase.
Candy Donations for Easter Eggs
Our Youth Group will be sponsoring a community Easter Egg hunt. Donations of candy to fill the eggs are appreciated and can be left in the Vestibule between now and March 10.
Financial Support for Soup Kitchen
Our Grades 7-8 CCD students are hosting a soup kitchen for the needy in our community in March. Monetary donations to help offset the purchase of supplies would be welcome! Those can be given to any class student, Kelley Kuhn, Joe Maybury, the Parish Office, or dropped in the offertory baskets marked for the “Soup Kitchen.”
Food for Thought
Food for Thought provides non-perishable food to over 500 Mineral Country children in need to take home each weekend. Donations should be individual-sized items like apple sauce, pudding cups, crackers, cookies and pasta cups, cereal and granola bars, instant oatmeal, ramen noodles, and Pop Tarts. These donations can be left in the Vestibule.
Faith in Action Food Pantry
Our local food pantry is always in need of items non-perishable items like pasta, rice, cereal, sauce, soups, canned vegetables and canned fruit. These donations can be left in the Vestibule.
Staggers & Hope Meadows Recovery Houses
These two local recovery houses assist women in recovery from drug or alcohol dependency. Items needed include shampoo, conditioner, soap, deodorant or other personal hygiene products. Donations can be left in the Vestibule.
Children’s Home Society of West Virginia
Become a foster parent to make an impact in a child’s life. Fliers with contact information can be found in the Vestibule.
